The Plant Controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards. Essential Functions • Oversee the activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial reports and annual audits and annual budgets. • Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and payroll processing. • Oversee the activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, collections, etc. • Manage payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely employee compensation. • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value. • Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor. • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management • Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs. • Participate in optimizing inventories in product materials, quantity and aging, and plant supplies. • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports. • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings • Performs other duties as assigned. General Qualifications Education/Knowledge: • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field • Proficient in financial software, including ERP systems Experience (required and preferred): • 5-10 years progressively responsible experience within a manufacturing environment • Experience managing and leading a company’s accounting department staff Skills (required and preferred): • Excellent analytical and organizational skills • Proven planning, analysis and decision-making skills • Strong PC-based computer skills including Excel • Effective communication skills, encompassing verbal, written and presentation skills • Ability to work across all functions and levels of the organization in order to ensure proper controls, support change initiatives and drive business results • Knowledge of key markets and applications for products sold, as well as awareness of the supplier and competitor landscape • Knowledge of accounting and performance management including financial reporting, analytical methods and product costing. Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, and speech are required. Manual dexterity is necessary. Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. • This position will be performed predominantly in an office setting • This position may occasionally be required to travel • This position may cause sitting for long periods of time
